What is this place?

Hello, here is some stuff about me. If you want to explore my thoughts and findings in ART and SCIENCE or my own ART and RADIO efforts, just hit “Categories” up there ↑ Thanks.

Emma Gibson is an investigative artist, but does not confine her creative output to the gallery walls, she is also co-writer and presenter of a monthly online radio show called The Butcher’s Apron, collecting strange British stories in science and culture, acts as some-time senior creative in research and concepts for world renowned Selfridges Department Store, and is a founding member of creative collective The John Hour. Continually exhibiting and travelling throughout the UK, Europe and beyond, Gibson is an inveterate turner of stones, pusher of snowballs and an all round over-worked obsessive creative mind. Current interests include science and story telling with objects and sound; parallel universes/ alternate realities, neuroscience, physics, mythmaking and the human condition.

Born in Britain in 1980 and based in London, artist and cultural observer Emma Gibson deals with intimate psychological themes using explicitly materialistic techniques, giving rise to a physical and mental space that quietly pulls apart everyday notions of self and society. Gibson’s rich installation work is built from layer upon layer of common social signifiers, periodically interrupted by the sentimental, the horrific or the otherwise wholly peculiar. These elements eerily function together to lure the viewer into an initial sense of familiarity that gets quickly turned in on itself, throwing up questions of sanity, identity, morality and the self.
